TL;DR: PM Chris Hipkins had already acknowledged last week Labour’s own internal polling showed Labour below 30%, but last night’s Newshub/Reid Research poll has confirmed earlier polls suggesting Labour has slumped into the 20s with a thump.

National/ACT could govern from October 15 if these poll results were replicated in the election. Voting overseas starts in just over two weeks, with local voting starting a week after that.

Real estate agents are already reporting first home buyers are re-developing FOMO, with higher attendance at open homes and auctions, prices bouncing for three months running and investor interest returning in anticipation of the removal of interest deductibility rules. Car buyer interest in electric vehicles has warmed up in anticipation rebates will be removed by the end of next month.
