Listen now (11 mins) | PM suggests action imminent as Fletcher Building shareholders revolt over GIB shortages and its Winstone Wallboards monopoly; Hospitals in crisis mode as winter flu overwhelms A&Es
Bernard, it would be interesting to dig into Branz to better understand it’s governance structure and whether it is fit for purpose for our time. It seems to me that it’s questionable that a private organisation should have so much control over materials in the NZ market, especially given the pressures in housing here
I read elsewhere that Fletchers are going to import Australian gib.
It would be interesting to know if they are going to rebrand it and claim it as their own. They wouldn't want another brand name out there telling builders that there is an alternative to them.
Well Bernard, it would interesting to dig a little further into Branz! I question weather they are truly fit for purpose and can anyone tell me who funds them??
Thanks, Bernard - this is the perfect length for me for a written Dawn Chorus. I read fast but you are not all i read and i usually have to skip things in yours.
Your included picture makes me think: you need to get one of those giant The Kākā logos for the end of your microphone. Maybe a wind muff that's shaped like a kākā?
I would have to make a suggestion that its, Code Compliance Certificates for Council Building Officials signing off on dwellings*
Far to generalised and incorrect for me not to comment.
If people are wanting to get into the "fit for purpose" argument too, you would want to first check how we are constructing buildings, and to what NZ Standards and/or the means of compliance in the industry. Industry covering, home owners choice, designers specifications builders knowledge , engineers certification and building officials check and balances. I see far too many opinions, or statements without weight and no real solutions or discussions moving forward.
Happy to discuss as open to criticism from my own informed opinion and perspective.
Tuesday's Chorus: GIB crisis escalates
Very interesting comment from Rabobank about Bitcoin as a lottery ticket

I see Martin is back at it with conspiracy theories - this time suggesting covid vaccinations are killing people. How many warnings does he need?
