TLDR: Incoming PM Chris ‘Chippy’ Hipkins will begin his first week in charge planning a Cabinet reshufle and eyeing up projects and policies to ditch so his ‘bread and butter’ Government can focus on cost of living issues.

Expect the Labour Government’s social unemployment insurance plan, Lake Onslow, Auckland ‘Light’ Rail, the TVNZ-RNZ merger and Three Waters to be in the firing line. The Upper Hutt MP has also called for privacy for his wife and two young children after revealing the couple separated about a year ago under the intense pressure of public life during the worst of covid.
