TLDR & TLDL: Omicron can evade the protections offered by two doses of Pfizer, but a third booster dose improves protection 25-fold, studies released overnight show. Also, a poll published this morning shows a third of parents here either won’t vaccinate their kids or are hesitant, with only a few weeks before vaccinations start.

Elsewhere below the paywall fold, there’s the latest scoops and news breaking overnight here, plus useful further reading, the comment of the day on The Kākā and some fun things. FYI I’m tightening these Dawn Choruses up and doing shorter podcasts to get them out earlier around 7.30am during weekdays, and will do more standalone deep dives and podcasts into particular topics with interviews, such as the one put up last night on child poverty.

Coming up today, I’m finalising my weekly podcast for The Spinoff on ‘Shipmageddon’ and how Adele made it worst. I’ll put that up here tomorrow too. I welcome comments and suggestions on topics to cover from paid subscribers below.
