CoreLogic and RBNZ data shows home owners' made about $92,000 each or $307b in capital gains in the year of Covid, while young renters, beneficiaries, the disabled, Maori and Pasifika went backwards
Phil Goff - "You end up wondering why you've got local government." Auckland Mayor Phil Goff has come out strongly against a proposal to amalgamate council water services into four entities"
Mahuta releases 4 Waters and within 24 hours Goff is in print papering over the fact that Auckland which has poured sewerage into the Waitemata for 60 years, continues under his stewardship
Of course, when 50% of your population (AKL) are born overseas, plus their offspring, the audience wouldn't have a clue about the 60 year dump. Dishonest. Deceitful.
Why only young renters, beneficiaries, the disabled, Maori and Pasifika went backwards
What about the other 190 other ethnicities
This is a true story about family and housing in Auckland. It's about a bloke who I worked with, called Joe. The era from memory was around the early 1970's. Joe was a Samoan who had a good job paying big money, long hours, plenty of overtime. He bought a house in Kingsland not too many kilometres from the Auckland CBD, in New North Rd. After establishing himself he brought his wife out from Samoa. Then he sponsored his brother out from Samoa who lived with Joe and his wife. When the phone billl came in Joe gave it to his brother. When the rates bill came in Joe gave it to his brother. Then together they brought out their other brother from Samoa. When when the Insurance bill came in the second brother got that plus a contribution towards the mortgage payments. Then Joe and his 2 brothers brought out their parents and they purchased another house in Kingsland for the parents. Then they bought another house in Kingsland for one of the brothers. That brother repeated the process all over again with cousins. Within a short number of years they had the whole extended family in Auckland and owned a good few houses in Kingsland.
Look at the population of Samoa and the population of people in Auckland who self identify as Samoans. Be surprised.
