Not being in the “beltway” I’d have to say it seems people are carrying on dealing with winter conditions, high winds, heavy rain and limitations caused. Carrying on working, or happily raising families and glad not to be in lockdown. The expectation is Government uses its power to build and pay for infrastructure and decent wages and there doesn’t seem to be much of the emo angst about people who can’t access MIQ being reported. Just fix it. Stay in or come home to NZ or don’t, foreigners care, Kiwis not so much. It seems no ones happy that systems are poked but they always have been. No one cares much about business whinging either. As usual Kiwis in this rural area seem to be happy to not to be having to deal with Covid and getting on with their lives. Issues like the need to adapt for climate change are Governance issues which, along with everything else should have been years ago and much greater investment into everything should’ve occurred. I think the biggest political risk to any political party is if Covid gets in and breaches our borders. The sense of media beat ups on anything other than “sigh ...just do your jobs for once”. No one seems racist, no one seems stressed just a bit muddy and wet....Kiwi cool around this neck of the woods. The main issues are security, income, don’t trust the Government, stop taxing us and telling us what to do, provide housing, health, education well-being and safety for all. And keep Covid out “you had one job....”.

Additionally unwell people out here appear to be masking up when out as they should. Which is good.
