Thanks for keeping these various important issues in the spotlight, Bernard. But, I think you made an “unfortunate” choice of words when describing the PM’s refusal to introduce a capital gains tax. It’s NOT unfortunate FOR the PM that she declared she wouldn’t implement a AGT during her political career. It IS unfortunate FOR the poor souls who have to suffer the consequences of her decision. Even now, she has the power to change her mind. But, thanks to the much worsened housing crisis, many NZers now have very little power over our own lives. Sure, there could be political consequences if she changed her mind, but that’s her own fault. Meanwhile, through no fault of their own, innocent lives are being lost while others lose all sense of purpose. Please, no sympathies for a perpetrator of human rights abuse when there are so many innocent victims of our housing crisis.
