Hi Bernard, can you please let us know if you’re not doing a AMA on a Friday prior to 12pm? Thanks

Bernard, I am unimpressed with Peter Bale's performance in this podcast. He keeps interrupting your worthwihile commentary with smart arse, ill-informed comments - I suggest that you ask him to be more constructive, and if he is unwilling or unable, ditch him.

Charging for water means some will not be able to afford it. Just because there was a change in usage does not mean a good thing. Real people are hurting.

The ‘West’, shamelessly led by the warmongering US, want a long war in eastern Europe. Unfortunately, the ‘West’ will support it to the last Ukrainian.

Hopefully, the Solomons will realise the US is not to be trusted. Their very sovereignty is at stake by accepting US overtures.

Countries having a central bank, especially in the ‘West’, means agreeing to longterm inequality throughout their economies.

Central governments must do what they can to mitigate natural disasters, which means financially supporting barriers to rising sea levels. Councils are not equipped to manage it.

If India, EU, Russia, China & US — the top emitters — do not drastically reduce their carbon footprints, we are toast.

As regards 3 Waters, I have 2 personal comments:

First, the idea of charging for water separately from council rates is very sensible. It ensures that the money paid goes wholly to support the water infrastructure and is not diverted towards other council activities and projects.

Second, the current proposed organisational structure seems stupid to me. I think a better approach is what the Dutch do with their water management organisations - the area managed by a water organisation is based on geography, e.g. a river basin, a major river flow, a catchment area. This gives the people within that area a shared common interest in what their organisation does and what they are getting for the water rates they pay

The present timing is difficult for me too as I a don't get home from family obligations until 5. I have no squeamish sensibilities about seeing Peter Bale in pyjamas and it would mean he has a cup of tea in his hand, not a G & T. This should quieten him down a bit.
