I have been wondering to myself lately....NZ and Australia's rush back to fossil fuel and resource extraction doesn't make any sense from an environmental or climate point of view. It frequently doesn't really make a lot of sense from economic standpoint either (well, not here anyway - Australia is different). I am fairly sure (despite NZ First blustering) that our government doesn't give two figs for the actual miners or roughnecks or the communities they support.
So, my question is, how much of this is actually to be seen in the context of the Anglophone West (AUKUS) shoring up access to, and infrastructure for, these resources as part of geo-strategic competition with the China - Russia - Iran grouping?
And now Dunedin. We need a plan. Oh yes, we’ll underwrite house building…
