Great Hoon. Regarding the Atomic Aircraft...

It was even worse than just the possibility of the aircraft crashing. They test flew an operating reactor, but it was not (yet) powering the aircraft. They had another aircraft following it with paratroopers who, in case of a crash, had to parachute down to the crash site and secure the area...

In the end the complications of shielding and arrival of ICBMs were responsible for its demise.

The Russians also tested reactors on aircraft, they minimised the shielding 'problem' by not having much and using veteran crew whose likely remaining lifespan was less than the predicted radiation dose would shorten...

If you want to read a scary, but fascinating, book on the 'economics' and 'politics' of nuclear weapons safety and the threat we all (still) have from nuclear weapons recommend:

Command and Control: Nuclear Weapons, the Damascus Accident, and the Illusion of Safety – by Eric Schlosser (Author)

Insightful analysis from Gordon Campbell on Winston Peters poor representation of NZ as an independent voice of reason in global geopolitics.

I had just muttered out loud "Fewer, Bernard"... when Peter seconds later said exactly those very words. Has made my day.

Excellent hoon. Media building trust via connection with the community is being talked about a lot in recent days in all the mone MSM platforms I listen to. I think that is the way going forward.

Maybe someday we will have The Kaka as the leading news source in the country.
