Health and disability inclusion, PAYE or ACC levy, mandatory redundancy payouts and whether contractors are included will decide whether social insurance is worth it
Until Governments start factoring in the unpaid and reproductive labour creating wealth for the “economy” it’s all unequal and fractured. They have to start counting this cost and taxing to distribute and support ALL citizens properly without limiting legal and human rights. It isn’t a zero sum game it’s a win win to create a civil society. Which we don’t have now. There’s plenty of money it’s just not being deployed to where it’s needed sufficiently. Hint the rich will always be ok Government only needs to regulate their excesses and work for everyone else.
