"No mention of ANZUS" .... Correct. NZ needs to wake up. Not everyone in this world is "kind" and Australia has long shouldered a burden of a complacent NZ wrt defence. Australia has an enormous unguarded coastline and submarines have long been considered the most effective approach to naval defence. The silent Nuke versions are the only choice they have to adequately achieve this task and the $90bn conventional strategy build by France was always a political compromise that would never have suited purpose. We in Aotearoa would be wise to listen to whats going on and wake up to where our interests lie.

Hi Bernard,

Thanks for another great tune in. I sightly disagree with the vaccine media coverage - I find it a little suffocating, it’s the main message everywhere! It’s also making me appreciate your podcast even more aha.

I guess to be fair - it is more about a construction contract for submarines. the French deal was always controversial and its replacement has long been flagged. Is there any threat of Australia having a nuke strike force? I suspect that is an option and a threat rather than a foregone conclusion. v unlikely

May you live interesting times ... must be getting an ole silly frequent the tea leaves in a cuppa ... but I feel like Bambi in a thicket sensing a world caught between a bullet and forest fire ... uncertain domestic and globally happenings with nothing makes sense as of late whether cometh from a tea party hosting the talk or the town on bank banking sure to rise Ponzi housing scheme or unspoken defence progression ... quite possibly where there is smoke there's fire.

I wonder how everything would end up if some form of defence breach occurrence did emerge, at least we can expect it will test our ANZUS relationship and arrangement.

In the meanwhile the world wanders a trance in Alice wonderland surrealist tunnels of castles of fortune built in air and where the white rabbits in lab coats from atomic scientist cried 100 minutes to midnight.
