I thought Catherine's suggestions re RUC make a lot of sense. Make road freight pay the real cost and transition to greater coastal shipping.

On the same topic, I've heard a few comments from young people who run around in $200 bombs, that the RUC black box is going to be easy to bypass, with a switch in the power feed or a wrapping with tin foil for example. I'm not sure how effective they will be, but they're surely going to try it on.

If Trump dies during his term, will Vance become president? That could be worse.

Kia ora, another great Hoon. I found the trade analysis really interesting and having not long ago listened to Michael Every (Geopolitical Strategist for Rabobank) discuss the thesis that the trade arguments used for / against tariffs are just distraction I would love to hear his arguments discussed further. His view is that mercantilism has returned to split the world between China and the US. He was here in April presenting that view to farmers with the conclusion that NZ will have to decide which side of the trade off they prefer: US security vs China trade. I'd love to here the views of your geopolitical and trade analysts on that. Ngā mihi.
