That poll about peoples concerns! Tourism 45% Housing Affordability 2%

Didn't see that coming.

85 respondents, in Rotorua. Probably not representative of the rest of the country.

Asking SMEs in a small regional tourist town to simply use AI to radically retool their entire operations into… Something Else(??) is definitely A Take.

The Predictive Lying Machine cannot stay in a hotel, purchase goods/services from a shop, or do anything to inject cash into Rotorua.

“Mr Luxon we have no customers our businesses are dying!” “lol you idiots. Just ask Claude”

P.S. On the other hand, he’s absolutely right! We Should as a nation be tech focused and work on turning ourselves into a high productivity economy ! We Should be radically retooling ourselves to face the coming climate emergency and creating a “really kick ass” society.

The best NACT1 can do is 40bil for landlords and big tobacco, while taking the science, R&D, Tech, and education sectors out behind the wool-shed…

We should be focusing on increasing productivity and using technology, nut I am yet to see the AI that can load GIB into a trailer or one that can change oil. I understand Luxon's latest buzz word is AI and that he is trying to justify shoving AI data centres down our collective throat, but in most small businesses environment it has absolutely no space.

National - Businesses are whiny kids

ACT. -Smack naughty kids

NZF. - Go back to where you came from.

New Zealand Government has all the answers. No wonder we are in such good shape.

Well, let's celebrate Luxon's hamfisted engagement with the business community. If he can turn even them against him, there is hope.

I've updated the video to cut out the initial mucking around. Sorry.

Vicki McLaren's avatar

Might be time for National to consider ‘retooling’ their leadership?

Cristina's avatar

They have a lot of tools to choose from 🤣

Paul Singh's avatar

I pity the tools 😆 or is that fools?

Merav Benaia's avatar

Unfortunately, all of their tools are not the sharpest ones.

Unfortunately a large number of Kiwis subscribe to this idiocy. That’s why they are in government.

This PM is the most cowardly head of state I've seen in my life, across multiple countries, so addicted to power that he can't defend even the most fundamental principles. At least 25% of New Zealanders were born overseas, so hearing "go back where you came from" is not only ignorant, but also offensive, especially when it comes from senior ministers rather than a few idiotic individuals... so how does he not act upon principles and sack the minister? Furthermore, the PM appears to be so focused on their own image that they have no idea what life is like for others. Sure, it's admirable that he's been a successful business manager and owns investment properties, but being a scientist, teacher, tradesperson, civil servant, librarian, journalist, a small business owner, and hundreds more are equally worthwhile career paths that should never be dismissed or disparaged. Being gutless for the sake of self-success ain't gonna pay. Hope to see him leave politics after losing the election

Tough on business

Weak on Winston

A good summary of how our government is being run is provided by the statement "If this racial harassment and abuse were to happen in any other workplace, there would be ample grounds for dismissal." in this article: https://e-tangata.co.nz/comment-and-analysis/why-we-call-winston-peters-lao-pi/

Thanks Bernard. The picture of Luxon trying is perfect for this post Bernard - he seems to be desperately trying to hold himself together!!

Neil's avatar

Louise Upston's mouth-shape behind his grimace is all you need to see. She seems to be wondering if this is really the best they can manage.

Gloria Sharp's avatar

Very much enjoy your analysis Bernard. Hope the fascist policy makers hang onto Luxon….

Does that clown Luxon not realise SME’s cannot build infrastructure, cannot create an education system, cannot maintain a health system? All three of those are not only the responsibility but that is the government’s role!

What an utter out-of-touch idiot we have for a PM!

Tony's avatar

Luxon totally missed the memo that he and the government are civil servants. They are in place to serve the people.

You only get the ear of Government if you're a multinational threatening to switch off a smelter. Then it's cheap power, a $30m cheque, and a Minister on the phone whenever you'd like another look at the contract.

Ask how long you can hang on with eleven staff in Rotorua and you get told to be an adult with a claude subscription.
