My weekend reading and listening for June 18/19
Adelle Peters on the rise of SUVs; Sarb Johal interviews Hamish McKenzie about his 30,000 days; David Pocock as senator; An awful deportation; Jacinda Ardern's cabinet tips; John Clarke on power
TLDR: This is another one of these features for paid subscribers in which they can ‘look over my shoulder’ in the process of my journalism. I try to share as much of the ‘raw’ things I do and link to my source documents wherever possible. That includes the long forms of my interviews in audio podcast form, and I often quote at length from documents, as well as including charts and links to other podcasts.
The links below are to the longer reads and listens I’ve either road or listened to in the last week or so, or have stocked up to listen to on walks this weekend. Hopefully it gives subscribers some useful things, but also an insight into where I get a lot of my data and thinking and framing for issues I see here in Aotearoa-NZ.
These links are below the paywall fold for paying subscribers, who support the public interest journalism I do on housing unaffordability, climate change inaction and poverty reduction. I welcome any suggestions for useful longer reads from paid subscribers in the comments below.
