Join us on a hoon to celebrate The Kākā's first birthday

TLDR: We made it! The stoats didn't get us. A year ago, we turned on the paywall and hoped it might generate a liveable income and create a useful resource where a community can congregate and safely talk about the issues in our political economy.
It has worked and we're grateful. Join us for an early weekly 'hoon' at 12pm to celebrate. It’s open to all just once this year and please join us shortly for an hour. Here’s the link to jump on.
Here’s the plan
12 midday – Bernard Hickey and co-host Peter Bale welcome in viewers
12.02pm-12.15pm - University of Otago Foreign Relations Professor Robert Patman on to talk about events in Russia, UNGA, Europe and US over the last week, including Putin’s nuclear threat and partial mobilisation, the global reaction and what’s next.
Here’s Peter’s weekly bulletin via The Spinoff for reference.
12.15-12.30 – ANZ Chief Economist Sharon Zollner on a monumental week in the global economy and markets, and what it means for NZ, including the Fed’s 75 bps hike, Jerome Powell’s hawkish talk, the Bank of Japan’s pledge to keep rates at 0.25% for years, and then intervening to prop up the yen, and the potential for even higher rates here in NZ than the 4.75% peak forecast by ANZ.
12.30 to 12.45 – Dominion Post Columnist and political commentator Josie Pagani on to talk about global and local politics, in particular Liz Truss’ trickle down project, Donald Trump’s legal problems, Jacinda Ardern’s Christchurch Call and UNGA exploits, Christopher Luxon’s Uffindell problem and the Government’s Three Waters/Densification problems.
12.45 to 1pm – Bernard to give an update on The Kākā’s first year behind a paywall.
As a teaser, here’s a sample showing the number of subscribers overall and the number of paid tier subscribers, although that includes over 1,000 comped to students, teachers and others
