Parliament to accept watered down motion on Uighur human rights after Labour refused to allow 'genocide' in motion and full Parliamentary debate; Trade Minister had warned it might hit trade
TLDR: Parliament caved to perceived pressure from China last night by excluding the word ‘genocide’ from its motion in support of Uighurs persecuted in Xinxiang. Green and ACT MPs had supported debating a motion that included the word ‘genocide,’ but took it out after Labour MPs objected in a business committee meeting.
